Energy decisions built on measured data

Energy is one of the few sectors where good data already exists in volume and still goes unused. Meters record every interval, plants log every fault, and billing systems hold years of history, yet the decisions that matter most are frequently made from a monthly summary nobody can trace back to a reading. Data4Energy Impacts exists to close that gap.

We work at the point where engineering meets analytics. That means understanding the metering topology and the equipment behind a reading, building the systems that collect and validate it, and then producing the analysis that turns it into a decision about investment, tariff, maintenance or efficiency.

The practice covers system development and advisory work in equal measure. Some clients need a platform built. Others need an independent read on the data they already hold before committing capital. We take on both.

Energy Management Systems

We design and build EMS platforms that hold your asset register, meter hierarchy, maintenance history and consumption record inside a single structure. Assets are modelled against the circuits and sites they physically sit on, so any reading can be traced back to the equipment that produced it. The same engineering applies to the data technologies surrounding the system, covering acquisition from meters and controllers, storage, and the interfaces your teams work in day to day. We build management systems on this pattern beyond energy as well, wherever assets, readings and maintenance records need to live in one auditable place instead of across separate spreadsheets.

Meter data arrives in awkward shapes: half hourly interval files, SCADA exports, utility billing statements, inverter logs and manual readings taken on a clipboard. We build the ingestion and validation layer that brings these together on a schedule, flags gaps and impossible values before they reach a report, and lands a clean time series your analysts can query with confidence.

Once the data is trustworthy the questions become answerable. We build load profiling, baseline and regression models that separate genuine efficiency gains from changes in weather or production volume, tariff analysis that shows where you are paying avoidable demand charges, and anomaly detection that surfaces a failing asset while it is still cheap to fix.

Energy reporting carries an audit trail requirement that ordinary dashboards ignore. We automate the reporting pack behind your energy management obligations, emissions accounting and internal targets, with every published figure traceable to the meter reading and conversion factor that produced it. Reports generate on schedule and arrive already formatted for the body that requested them.

Energy Sector Data Consultancy

Advisory work for utilities, independent power producers, large consumers and the programmes that fund them. We assess the data you currently collect, identify what is missing before a decision can responsibly be made, specify the metering and system changes needed to close that gap, and set out a phased plan with costs attached. The deliverable is a document your board can approve, not a slide deck.

Sustainability & Efficiency

Savings you can prove, not just claim

Efficiency programmes and emissions targets live or die on the quality of the measurement behind them. We build the baseline first, adjust it for weather and production volume so the comparison is fair, and then report the saving against that adjusted baseline. When a funder, a regulator or your own board asks for the evidence, the number resolves back to metered readings rather than to an assumption made at the start of the project.

On Site Generation

Rooftop and distributed assets, properly measured

Solar on a roof changes the shape of a site load profile in ways that a monthly utility bill hides completely. We instrument generation and consumption separately, reconcile the two against import and export readings, and show you what the asset is actually producing against what it was modelled to produce at the point of purchase.

The same analysis supports payback tracking, degradation monitoring, storage sizing and the tariff decisions that follow once self consumption enters the picture. Portfolio owners get one view across every site rather than a separate inverter portal for each.
